The Jangada Association, whose mission is to promote Brazilian culture in France and around the world, is organizing the 27th edition of the Brazilian Film Festival of Paris. This unmissable event will take place at the L'Arlequin cinema, bringing together cinephiles and curious individuals eager to discover or rediscover this beautiful culture through the seventh art.
Each year, the Festival gathers thousands of people to celebrate Brazilian cinema and pay tribute to the country’s iconic figures. This year, the renowned Brazilian audiovisual actress, Dira Paes, who will be honored by the godmother of the 2025 festival, Marina Foïs. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate her 40-year career!
With the theme "From North to South, One Brazil," the festival invites you to explore the richness and diversity of Brazilian cinema in all its territorial and cultural pluralities. The program is rich and inspiring, blending poignant fiction and captivating documentaries. About thirty films will be showcased, demonstrating the vitality and creativity of contemporary Brazilian cinema.
Thanks to the invaluable work of event director Katia Adler, the films planned to honor Dira Paes are as follows: Anahy des Misiones (1997) by Sérgio Silva, Manas (2024) by Mariana Brennand Fortes, and Pasárgada (2024), Dira Paes’ very first feature film.
Additionally, the meeting between Marina Foïs and Dira Paes is expected to be a highlight of the festival. This unique conversation promises to be a key moment, offering a rich exchange of perspectives between two major figures of cinema, each bringing their own unique view on the art of storytelling through the screen.
