Learning the basics of regular verb conjugation will help you create dialogues more easily and boost your confidence when speaking Portuguese. But don’t worry — there are simple and effective methods to learn quickly.

📌 Don’t forget that:

-In European Portuguese, the pronoun “tu” is used more often.
-In Brazilian Portuguese, the pronoun “você” is used predominantly.

So, when conjugating verbs with
“você”, you can use the endings of the third person singular.

✍️ Present tense endings of regular verbs:

1) For -AR verbs, the endings are:
-o, -as, -a, -amos, -am

2) For -ER verbs, the endings are:
-o, -es, -e, -emos, -em

3) For -IR verbs, the endings are:
-o, -es, -e, -imos, -em

These endings correspond to the pronouns:
I, you (tu), he/she/você, we, they

✅ Tips to memorize the endings:

If you learn these sequences, you’ll be able to conjugate almost all regular verbs in the present indicative.
Here are some easy-to-remember mnemonic phrases:

O Astrogildo Arruda Amou Amanda
(for -AR verbs)

O Escritor Estava Emocionado-Empolgado
(for -ER verbs)

O Elefante Estava Imobilizando Elefantezinhos
(for -IR verbs)

These phrases highlight the verb endings and help fix conjugation patterns in your memory.

💡 Extra tip:

Practicing regularly with these models will help you automate conjugation. Try making your own sentences or dialogues using regular verbs. The more you practice, the more natural it becomes!
